Playa Vista 91 years ago
1925… Men working in the celery field where Hughes Aircraft would later be built on the Ballona Wetlands… now known as Playa Vista.
Originally the Gabrieleno-Tongva tribe settled along the banks of Ballona Creek. The Tongvas inhabited this land for thousands of years before Spanish colonization. In 1940, Howard Hughes purchased a large parcel of the Ballona Wetlands… in 1941 he began to build facilities for his expanding aircraft company.
2015… Google Earth capture with 3d buildings turned off for visibility of the bluffs.
